Saturday basketball roundup: Jackson Center beats New Bremen in triple OT

NEW BREMEN — Jackson Center pulled out a 58-55 victory in triple overtime on Saturday at New Bremen to preserve its long winning streak.

Grant Elchert made a 3-pointer at the buzzer to lift the Tigers to their 19th consecutive victory. He also hit a 3 at the end of the fourth quarter to force overtime with a 42-42 tie.

The teams were tied 12-12 at the end of the first quarter. The Cardinals used a 13-10 advantage in the second to take a 25-22 halftime lead, then used an 11-10 edge in the third to take a 36-32 lead. Jackson Center outscored the Cardinals 10-6 in the fourth to force overtime.

Both squads scored four points in each the first and second overtime.

Jace Mullenhour led Jackson Center (19-1) with 21 points while Nolan Fark scored 19 and Camdyn Reese scored 10.

Fort Loramie 75, Coldwater 53

The Redskins earned a lopsided victory on senior night on Saturday in Fort Loramie.

Fort Loramie went on a 13-2 run to take a 13-10 lead by the end of the first quarter, then outscored the Cavaliers 26-15 in the second quarter and 21-13 in the third to run away.

Senior guard Caleb Maurer led Fort Loramie (15-5) with 33 points while senior Ethan Keiser scored 16 and senior Logan Eilerman scored 12.

Russia 59, Ansonia 38

The Raiders won a nonconference game on Saturday in Russia.

Russia led 14-9 at the end of the first quarter before the Tigers used a 22-18 advantage in the second to pull within 32-31 at halftime. But the Raiders ran away with a 19-5 advantage in the third quarter and 8-2 advantage in the fourth.

Russia improved to 18-2 overall with the victory. No statistics were reported.

Versailles 67, Anna 47

The Rockets lost a nonconference game on Saturday in Versailles.

The teams were tied 14-14 at the end of the first quarter before the Tigers used a 20-12 advantage in the second to take a 34-26 halftime lead. Versailles led 48-38 at the end of the third.

Drew Doseck led Anna (7-14) with 16 points while Mason Carey and Carter Seigle each scored 11.

Lima Shawnee 57, Botkins 52

The Trojans lost a nonconference game on Saturday in Botkins.

Botkins led 15-13 at the end of the first quarter and 31-27 at halftime before the Indians used an 18-11 edge in the third quarter and 12-10 edge in the fourth to rally.

Carter Pleiman led Botkins (11-9) with 17 points while Collin Doseck scored 12.

Fairlawn 57, Riverside 45

The Jets won a nonconference game on Saturday in De Graff.

Fairlawn led 12-10 at the end of the first quarter, 26-18 at halftime and 37-24 at the end of the third quarter.

Drew Westerbeck led the Jets (3-18) with 17 points and five rebounds. Dalton Davis scored 14 points, Aiden Haynes scored 11 points, Trey Sparks scored nine points and Gavin Landrey scored six points and had six rebounds.

Myles Platfoot led Riverside (6-14) with 12 points and eight rebounds. Gavin Orsborne scored 10 points and Ayden Clary scored seven points and had eight rebounds and three assists.

Houston 37, Mississinawa Valley 35

The Wildcats won a nonconference game on Saturday in Houston.

Houston led 11-9 at the end of the first quarter before the Blackhawks used an 11-7 edge in the second to take a 20-18 halftime lead. Houston finished with an 11-9 edge in the third and 8-6 advantage in the fourth to earn the win.

Skylar Bowman led Houston (3-16) with nine points.

Fort Loramie 51, Findlay Liberty-Benton 46

The Redskins won a nonconference game on Saturday in Fort Loramie.

Fort Loramie led 19-11 at the end of the first quarter, but Liberty-Benton battled back with a 16-8 edge in the second to tie it 27-27 at halftime. Liberty-Benton outscored Fort Loramie 11-10 in the third quarter, but the Redskins finished with a 11-6 edge in the fourth.

Avery Brandewie led Fort Loramie (19-2) with 15 points and seven rebounds. Skyler Albers scored 13 points and Victoria Mescher scored 10. Ava Turner added eight points.

Riverside 43, Fairlawn 34

The Pirates won a nonconference game on Saturday in De Graff.

Fairlawn led 7-6 at the end of the first quarter, but Riverside used a 9-4 edge in the second to take a 15-11 halftime lead, then pulled away with a 15-10 edge in the third.

Emma Saylor led Riverside (6-16) with 11 points while Avery Perk scored nine and Ayva Stewart and Jade Copas each scored eight. Kaylee Fulkerson added seven.

Lani Clemons led Fairlawn (1-20) with 12 points while Darcy Maxson scored nine.

Jackson Center 39, Indian Lake 34

The Tigers won a nonconference game on Saturday in Lewistown.

Jackson Center led 9-6 at the end of the first quarter, but the Lakers used a 13-9 edge in the second to take a 19-18 halftime lead. The Tigers retook control in the third quarter with a 14-5 advantage.

Presley Reese led Jackson Center (11-11) with 16 points while McKinley Reichert scored 11 and Macy Klopfenstein added eight.

Allen East 53, Botkins 31

The Trojans lost a nonconference game on Saturday in Harrod.

Allen East led 8-2 at the end of the first quarter and 23-12 at halftime.

Dana Metz led Botkins (12-10) with eight points.

Anna 34, Lehman Catholic 12

The Rockets won a nonconference game on Saturday in Sidney.

Anna improved to 13-8 overall while Lehman Catholic dropped to 4-17.
