FORT LORAMIE — The village of Fort Loramie just finished another very successful year.

Village Administrator Mark Shappie has released the following report:

The village income tax was up 24% from 2021. With the rising costs of supplies it is still the village’s stance to use your monies in a responsible way. Phase II of the storm project was completed; the restoration of this project will take place this spring. At the Redskin Memorial Park the Perin Pavilion was rented 81 times this past year which brought hundreds if not thousands of people to enjoy our ever growing park system. If you are interested in renting any of our park buildings you can call the office at 937-295-3088.

The village was also able to purchase 38 acres, in the spring of 2022 to expand the Industrial Park. This expansion should help the Village expand the Industrial base to the village for years to come. The house has been demolished and are actively looking for funding sources to expand the road and utilities. We are excited to announce that there will be a 24,000 square foot building being built this year, which will be available for sale or lease by a private developer.

We look forward to another very successful year. In the upcoming year the village has received a $122,000 grant to help with the renovations at the village’s youth park. In the next several months the current tennis courts will be renovated with a new asphalt surface being put down, six new permanent pickleball courts will take the place of two tennis courts, one tennis court will be reinstalled and a new playing surface on the basketball courts. The village will also be repaving Lane Street and the south parking lots will be resurfaced along with new siding and replacing some uneven sidewalks around the shelter house and the concession stand.

The village is also continuing to offer plenty of numerous events throughout 2023. In June and August there will be our gazebo series which brings food trucks and local bands to Canal Park sponsored by the Fort Loramie Chamber of Commerce. Also at Canal Park in September is the German Heritage Days sponsored by the Chamber. At Redskin Memorial Park there will be plenty of baseball and softball games to enjoy along with little league tournaments in June. Finally at our Youth Park and throughout the village will be Liberty Days on June 30-July 2 with the parade making its return this year on July 1 with its theme being “Only in America.” Keep an eye on the Villages Social Media outlets for details as these dates get closer.
