LIMA — The Lima Symphony Orchestra returns next week with a new “Symphony Storytime.” Throughout the season, the Lima Symphony brings Symphony Storytime programs to Allen and all surrounding counties, extending the Symphony’s educational reach and impact. The new program will celebrate the return of spring.

On Monday, April 10, at 10:30 a.m. at the Findlay-Hancock Public Library, 206 Broadway St., Findlay, and on Tuesday, April 11, at 10:30 a.m. at the Auglaize County Public District Library, 203 Perry St., Wapakoneta.

For this innovative program, children and their families will enjoy classic selections in celebration of the return of spring. This program features outstanding newer book selections including the lyrical “Snow Rabbit, Spring Rabbit” by Il Sung Na, the beautifully colorful “Green on Green” by Diane White, “Finding Spring” by Carin Berger, and the award-winning “If You Plant a Seed” by Kadir Nelson, all accompanied by live music from Lima Symphony Orchestra musicians.

The program will engage kids’ imaginations and get them singing along as we examine basic musical concepts and ideas. With a focus on creative movement and music literacy, Symphony Storytime is designed to spark children’s imaginations and foster a lifelong appreciation for music. This program is appropriate for all ages and is free and open to the public.

These performances are part of the Lima Symphony’s ongoing commitment to music education and their firm belief that music and other arts are critical tools in building strong communities. This project is supported by the following Symphony Storytime Sponsors: AC Dienstberger Foundation, G.A. Wintzer & Son Co., State Bank, Thermal Gard Window and Door, Van Wert County Foundation – Harold B. and Dorothea F. Cully Memorial Fund, Kenton Rotary Foundation and the Findlay Hancock Foundation.
