JACKSON CENTER — Projects for 2024 weere discussed by Jackson Center Village Council during a wrokd session on Nov. 8.

It began with a presentation from Gail Siegel and Dan Freytag from Freytag and Associates Inc.. They were there to present the layout for the new Village Center. It will be combining both the administrative office and police station under one roof. They were presenting blueprints of what it will look like inside and out. The building will be put on the carnival lot where Community Days is held. It is estimated to be a little over $6 million when completed. The process is in the beginning stages, and is expected to take years to complete. As for Community Days, it will be moved to a new, undecided location.

Other projects discussed were water main upgrades and road paving on Linden, North and Ohio streets, which will cost $802,000. A new water treatment plant for around $4,000,000. Bidding for a lower estimate will be held on January/February 2024, as the project is scheduled to be completed by 2025. On West Pike Street, additional storm inlets will be placed towards Airstream. This is going to cost $125,000. Village crews will be working on the storm and under-drain tile at Wally Byam Park, costing $123,000. To increase community safety, security cameras will be installed at the park, pool, on Jerry Drive, and the traffic light for $50,000. A new Skid Loader for $75,000 will be installed for all departments to use, along with a specialty broom for trail sweeping, at $4,500. The Village will also be purchasing an ABI Rascal for $10,000. The S. Ohio Street Reconstruction will be $150,000 while adding a new cul-de-sac at the end of West College Street is going to be $200,000. This is also how much the Leininger Lane Construction Project is going to cost as well.

The village will be renewing the Stokes Township And Jackson Township fire contract for over a $1,000. A Street Survey and analysis will be completed for $3,000. The Manhole Lining Project will continue into 2024, costing $50,000. Paving on Nickelson and Collinsworth will be wrapping up for $180,000. Reclamite/Crack Sealing on the roads will continue on for $20,000. A total of $50,000 will go towards the Jackson View Cemetery Project.

A pole on James Street will be replaced by an unknown amount. A concept layout for a project on Davis Street will be $2,500. The emergency radio towers will be up and running for $10,000. The AMI Project will finish, costing $290,000. A 50-year Drought Study will be complete in 2024 and the baseball fields will be getting upgraded for an amount pending.

The costs for all the projects are just a rough estimation to give the village an idea of how much it is going to cost. They are subject to change at any time as the village seeks grants and other funding sources to not overburden on the general fund account.
