MINSTER – Throughout January, the employees of Minster Bank raised funds in support of Shoes 4 the Shoeless through the “Casual for a Cause” program, demonstrating their desire to fight childhood poverty in West Central Ohio.

The Casual for a Cause movement, a hallmark of Minster Bank’s corporate culture, allows employees to dress informally in exchange for voluntary contributions toward charitable causes. The January non-profit was recommended by Minster Bank’s Marketing Manager Susan Bergman. “I’ve been following and personally donating to this mission for years. The stories they share are incredible and I’m so happy that we could contribute to the cause on a larger scale,” said Bergman

Shoes 4 the Shoeless is a Dayton-based non-profit that provides new, correctly fitting gym shoes and socks to Ohio children in desperate need. Kris Horlacher, executive director, began the program in 2007. It now serves 14 Ohio counties, stretching from Miami to Hamilton, and has delivered over 160,000 pairs of shoes and socks.

“It is our goal to set up a second hub in Cincinnati,” said Horlacher, “Donations like this help make that dream possible.”

Through a uniquely efficient and effective school-based system, they give children access to proper footwear. Wearing ill-fitting and worn shoes often condemns children to physical, social, and emotional problems that last a lifetime.

Andy Clements, Vandalia branch manager at Minster Bank, remarked, “Kris and her team run an efficient and vital program in our community. We are excited to donate to this cause as it aligns with our bank mission to increase financial security through community-based literacy programs and education.”

Participating in Casual for a Cause isn’t merely about dressing down; it’s about uplifting the community, fostering a culture of empathy, and making a tangible difference in the lives of others.

The donation reaffirms Minster Bank’s dedication to supporting local initiatives and embracing its role as a responsible corporate citizen.
