BCIC meeting rescheduled

BOTKINS — The April meeting for the Botkins Community Improvement Corporation (BCIC) has been rescheduled to April 15 because of the solar eclipse. The announcement was made at the April Botkins Village Council meeting.

The Park Parking Lot Fund received $294,000 from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, which will be set aside for the Hageman Land Purchase.

Fire Chief Wayne T. Glass will have a $2,000 budget to pay the firefighters with who help out during the eclipse on April 8. A list of solar eclipse events is available at https://www.botkinsohio.com/.

Mayor Lance Symonds swore in Mark Bell as an auxiliary officer and Kaitlyn Deal as a night officer. Council approved the application of Hannah Paul for the fiscal officer’s position. Ron Bergman was hired as seasonal help in the village of Botkins for around $15- $18 per hour. His job will involve mowing and helping out around the park when he is needed.

Administrator Randy Purdy is working with AES, Nktelco, and Spectrum on maintaining telephone poles around the village. Purdy also reached out to Sign Solutions to get decorations with seals for the Council Chambers.

The county has decided to add Meadow Road to the Lock 2 Road Pavement Project this summer. This addition will cost $38,000. The curb and stormwater project will be completed before this project begins. The water line portion of the North Mill Street Project has been completed. Concrete will be laid out in May with paving to begin shortly after.
