Senior Center to close for Good Friday

SIDNEY — The Board of Trustees of the Sidney/Shelby County Senior Center voted during its March 4 meeting to close the center at 11 a.m., March 25 in commemoration of Good Friday.

The board also voted to close the center from Dec. 23 through Dec. 26.

In other business, the board:

• Heard from the Nominating Committee that Barbara Cole and Nancy Deam will be on the ballot for election to serve second three-year terms and Ray Arnold, Georgina Dressman and Carolyn Warner, for one-year terms on the board of trustees, when center membership votes during its annual meeting, May 10. Three seats on the board are open.

• Heard reports from Sidney City Manager Mark Cundiff concerning road paving updates and changes in electricity rates.

• Heard reports from Tony Bornhorst about water issues, an auction of courthouse sturctural items and the newly installed courthouse heating system.

• Learned that a fashion show for developmentally disabled people will be at the center on May 14.

• Heard reports from Executive Director Eileen Wiseman that during February, 24 volunteers gave 764.25 hours of service worth $11,463.75; there were 688 members including 29 new members in Februrary, one death, 3,717 people visited for a daily average of 155 visitors.
