LIMA — Pamela Stricker, publisher of The Lima News, has been promoted to the position of Publisher of Niche Publications for Civitas Media, chief executive officer Ralph Martin announced Friday.

The position is a new one within the company and underscores the importance that special publications will have as Civitas continues to grow its business. Stricker started the popular Salt magazine, which circulates in numerous Ohio newspapers, including The Lima News. She also has headed up the statewide Rural Life Today publication, which appears in 66 of Ohio’s 88 counties.

“We’re looking at capitalizing on Pam’s knowledge as we bring these products and more to our other markets,” said Martin. Civitas publishes more than 100 publications in 12 states for a combined weekly distribution of more than 1.6 million copies.

Stricker said, “Working with niche publications has been a passion of mine, and I am pleased I will be able to focus on and develop those products.”

While Stricker will maintain an office at The Lima News, a new publisher will be named so Stricker can concentrate on her new duties. Martin expects to make that announcement in the near future.

Stricker was named publisher of The Lima News on June 24, 2015. She previously served as the publisher of the Wilmington News-Journal for 14 years. She also was an assistant regional director for Civitas Media’s Southern Ohio newspapers.

She and her husband, Gerald, will continue to reside in Lima.

“Although my role as publisher of The Lima News has been brief, it has afforded me the privilege of becoming a part of a great community,” she said. “I look forward to a continued relationship with the many wonderful people I have met since coming to Lima.”
