Hardin-Houston BOE accepts donations, hires staff

HOUSTON — The Hardin-Houston Board of Education met Monday to accept donation and hire personnel.

The board accepted a donation of $1,166 from Steve Knouff for a tenor saxophone. They also accepted the following $2,500 donations for the Gymnasium Scoreboard Project: Piqua Concrete, Meyers Garage & Drive Thru, Wagners IGA Markets, Houston Athletic Boosters, Minster Bank, and Maier Brothers Painting.

They employed:

• Glenn Brown as the weight room supervisor for the reminder of the current school year.

• Zachary Barlage as a high school history teacher.

• Craig Knouff as the assistant principal/athletic director.

And employed the following on one year supplemental contracts:

• Tina Mertz, faculty manager, Washington DC – supervisor, Prom

• Mark Platfoot, assistant boys varsity basketball coach

• Jacob Monnier, JV boys basketball coach

• Zach Barlage, freshman basketball coach

• Lance Collum, 8th grade boys basketball coach

• Brad Allen,varsity girls basketball coach

• Sarah Skidmore, assistant girls varsity basketball coach

• Abby Pleiman, 8th grade girls basketball coach

• Tammy Vondenhuevel, 7th grade girls basketball coach

• Kim Voisard, high school cheerleading coach

• Tiffany Kemp, junior high cheerleading coach

• Kerri Meade, JV volleyball coach

• Scott Bayless, academia

• Marie Poeppelman, Washington DC – coordinator

• Scott Bayless, Washington DC – supervisor

• Cara Kellersmith, environmental club

• Janet Mcclurg, performing arts club

• Stephanie Merickel, National Honor Society (HS), Student Council (HS)

• Gina Maier, Junior Honor Society, Prom

• Dave Reister, pep band

• Jill Bornhorst, play/musical, yearbook

• Kim Vestal, Power of the Pen – 8th grade

• Jenni Paulus, Power of the Pen – 7th grade

• Deanna Chappie, Spanish Circle

• Molly McKee, Student Council – elementary

• Melissa Bowers, LPDC Representative

• Samantha Sharp, elementary musicals

• Cara Kellersmith, gifted coach

They accepted the resignations of Tiffany Hickerson and Joan Lichtenberg.

Also at the board of education meeting the board approved:

• The Student, Faculty & Athletic Handbook revisions.

• Athletic season passes as $30 for students and $85 for adults.

• K-6 student fees of $65, and student fees for 7-12.

• The superintendent to participate in all Federal and State programs.

• The service agreement with the Midwest Regional ESC for bus rental.

• The service agreement with Madison Champaign County ESC for Alternative School Services.

• A three day unpaid suspension of duties for Chastity Crowder for insubordination, effective Aug. 17 through Aug. 19, as a result of two days without pay unauthorized leave of absence.

The next regular board meeting will be Monday, July 18, 2016, at 7 p.m. in the Media Center.
