Overbeys mark 50 years

SIDNEY — Darlene and Monroe Overbey, of Sidney, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary, today, Feb. 4, 2017, with a family dinner.

Monroe and the former Darlene Goff were married Feb. 4, 1967, in the Sycamore Church of God in Sidney. The Rev. Glen Row performed the ceremony on a cold, clear day. Witnesses were Revonda and Virgil Foster, Gaye Goff and Truman Collins. The couple had been introduced to each other by a friend.

Monroe is the son of the late Ruth and Eugene Overbey. He has a brother and sister-in-law, Wilbur and Cas Overbey, of Sidney, and two sisters, Audrey Pellman and Charlotte Turner, both of Sidney.

Darlene is the daughter of the late Ida and William Goff. She has two sisters, Fay Hubbard, of Sidney, and Levoda Blevins, of Marion, Virginia.

The Overbeys have three sons, Timothy, Christopher and Matthew, all of Sidney, and a daughter, Melissa Thompson, of Troy. They have eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Monroe retired from Ply Gem in 2008 and from Midwest Maintenance in 2011. Darlene retired from Norcold in 2008 after 32 years of service.

The couple attend the Full Gospel Community Church and enjoy spending time with their grandchildren.
