November 15, 1897
The entertainment committee of Summit Lodge, Knights of Pythias, has arranged with the Boston Symphony, composed of 24 lady musicians, for a matinee in this city, the afternoon of December 17. The company changes cars here that day on their way from Cleveland to Piqua.

The congregational meeting announced to be held at the Presbyterian Church after the morning service yesterday was postponed until next Sunday morning on account of the small attendance occasioned by the bad weather.

November 15, 1922
Members of city council at their meeting last evening adopted a resolution instructing the city engineer to proceed with the necessary steps for the establishment of a “white way” system in the downtown portion of the city. Council also received a petition asking that the new right-of-way of the Big Four Railroad be placed on the south side of Lincoln Street. A petition is also on file that the right-of-way be placed along the north side of Lincoln Street.

Members of the Board of Directors of the Sidney Country Club completed their reorganization for the coming year at a meeting last evening, naming Cable Wagner, president. Serving with him will be, A. C. Getz, vice president and Harry Dunham, secretary and treasurer.

Fifteen members of the junior class at Sidney High school romped through a delightful comedy for the initial performance of “Ever Since Eve,” at the annual class play last evening. Members of the cast included: John Laws, Marianne Bennett, Bill Dunnavant, Louanne Blake, Jane Robinson, Jackie McVay, Dick Conrad, Frank Neville, Joanne Quellhorst, Jerry Hays, Roy Bulle, Larry Grigg, Dick Snyder and Larry Hawkins. Miss Olive Owens directed the cast.

The executive council of the Shelby County Amateur Basketball League convened in special session last evening to complete preparations for the upcoming loop campaign which will open at the Sidney High School Gymnasium on November 20. Frank Warbington, president of the league, said today there will be 10 teams in the league this season.

Thomas W. Simms graduated in spring from the Ohio State University Law School and undergraduate school. He has received notice that he passed his Ohio State bar exam and took the oath of office at a session of the Supreme Court of Ohio. He will be working for the law firm of Tracy, DeLibsea, Lyons and Collins, Columbus. Mr. Simms’ parents are Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Simms of Anna.

NEW BREMEN – New Bremen Jaycee President Jerry Merges announced today that the New Bremen Jaycees received a “superior” award for a project they recently completed.
Members reconstructed a track for the local high school. The award was presented at the Ohio All-State Jaycee Convention in Cleveland late in October.

Ted Thompson, who is a certified nurse’s assistant with the Wilson Hospital Hospice program, received a significant honor this week. He was chosen as the Home Health Aid of the year by the West Central Ohio Home Health Organization. Thompson, 41, views caring for the terminally ill as a privilege. He was selected from a group of nominees from an eleven county area.

Mike Muehlfeld, who has been tasked to develop a football program at Anna, knows he has an uphill climb. “There will be some bumps in the road,” he stated. The biggest problem will be the scheduling. No other SCL has football. If Anna cannot get into a league, it will be forced to play an independent schedule. Based on his discussions with other coaches, that will be very difficult. The team will play their games on the old baseball diamond.
