Crashes

Kyle Lewis Barnette, 31, of Lima, was cited with operation without reasonable control after the State Highway Patrol responded to a one-vehicle crash on Jan. 23 at 5:25 a.m.

Barnette was traveling southbound on Metz Road when he drove through slush on the right shoulder, steered to the left and traveled off the left side of the roadway, striking two trees. The vehicle was towed by Elmer’s Towing.

• John Apparicio, 54, of Dayton, was cited with operation without reasonable control after the State Highway Patrol responded to a one-vehicle crash on Jan. 22 at 8:12 a.m.

Apparicio was driving a semi-truck traveling southbound on Interstate 75 when he drove off the right side of the roadway, came back on the road and jackknifed. Then he went off the left side of the roadway and struck the median cable barrier. The semi was towed by Wrecker’s Towing.

• Traci R. Rossiter, 53, of Sidney, was cited with operation without reasonable control after the State Highway Patrol responded to a one-vehicle crash on Jan. 20 at 12:10 a.m.

Rossiter was traveling westbound on state Route 29 when she attempted to turn left into a private driveway, lost control on the snowy roadway, and struck a ditch.

• No one was cited after deputies responded to a one-vehicle crash on Jan. 19 at 11:20 p.m.

Kaden Dane Pauley, 18, of Sidney, was traveling eastbound on West Mason Road when he lost control due to icy road conditions and went off the left side of the roadway, striking a ditch and overturning. The vehicle was towed by Elmer’s Towing.

• No one was cited after the State Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle crash on Jan. 16 at 12:26 p.m.

John B. Puthoff, 60, of Fort Loramie, was traveling southbound on Short Road approaching the intersection of Cardo Road. Joshua A. Snyder, 33, of Greenville, was traveling eastbound on Cardo Road approaching the intersection. Puthoff failed to yield at the stop sign and was struck by Snyder in the intersection, causing Puthoff to travel off the roadway and strike a stop sign and a utility pole. Road conditions were icy at the time of the crash.

The vehicles Puthoff and Synder were driving were towed by Meyer’s Towing. Puthoff was taken by Fort Loramie EMS to Wilson Health with suspected serious injuries. Snyder had suspected minor injuries but was not evaluated by an EMS agency or taken to a medical facility.

• No one was cited after the State Highway Patrol responded to a three-vehicle crash on Jan. 16 at 8:57 a.m.

Scott R. Dean, 61, of Sidney, was traveling southbound on Interstate 75 when he lost control due to snowy conditions and struck a guardrail on the right side of the roadway. Then he came back onto the roadway and struck a semi-truck driven by Anthony J. Negrete, 65, of Mansfield, causing the semi to jackknife and strike Janice M. Thomas, 60, of Lima, who was attempting to get off on exit 93. Thomas was pushed off the right side of the roadway into a ditch. Negrete attempted to correct the semi, causing him to overturn on the right side of the interstate.

Dean and Thomas’s vehicles were towed by Elmer’s Towing and the semi was towed by Englewood Towing. All parties were taken by Sidney EMS to Wilson Health with suspected minor injuries.

-3:06 p.m.: pursuit. Deputies were in pursuit at mile marker 97 on Interstate 75.
