The two were organizing the jumble of food products into categories. Long has been a volunteer at Agape for 14 years and Langsten has volunteered for 15 years. Agape bought the food from a grocery warehouse in South Carolina as the food pantry was running low on shelf-stable food, so they scoured the country to find some, according to Agape Board Chair and Interim Director Bruce Boyd. They bought 96 pallets with 12 banana boxes full of miscellaneous food on a pallet at 15 cents per pound. Honda volunteers came two weekends to help organize the food, and Boyd said they will be sorting the food for at least three months.

The Jackson Center Senior Citizens Club held its bi-monthly meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 6 at the Family Life Center (Hall) from 1 to 3 p.m. They do various activities and games, like Bingo. The only prize given out is fond memories. Plenty of food and desserts are served pot-luck style. It is meant to be a fun and relaxing environment for all who visit. It is open to anyone in Shelby County who is 55 and older, and costs $10 a year to join. If anyone is interested in joining, just attend one of their meetings held on the first and third Wednesday of every month.
