Bloomfield named WAEDC executive director

WAPAKONETA — The Project Director for the Crossroads development in Cridersville has been named the Wapakoneta Area Economic Development Council’s (WAEDC) new executive director.

Josh Bloomfield, a native of Lima, has replaced Logan O’Neill, previous executive director since 2019.

WAEDC, a public-private partnership dedicated to driving economic development within the community, is enthusiastic about the future under Bloomfield’s leadership.

“His commitment to removing barriers for both emerging and established businesses, coupled with his passion for fostering sustainable business growth in the Wapakoneta community, will shape WAEDC’s mission going forward,” said O’Neill.

Bloomfield and O’Neill will collaborate closely over the coming weeks to ensure a seamless transition.

Bloomfield has worked with Dr. Craig A. Nicholson to develop 250 acres for residential, commercial and medical uses in Cridersville, Ohio since 2019. The much anticipated project is moving forward in 2024 with the construction of the first public roadway opening up 30 acres for development with direct interstate-75 access.

“Development can be very challenging — but very rewarding at the same time,” said Bloomfield about what attracted him to the position. “I enjoy working on big projects and big ideas, especially ones that can have such a positive impact on the communities I grew up in.”

Bloomfield said his goal with WAEDC is to build upon all the positives O’Neill and previous longtime director Greg Myers, have created.

“All you have to do is look around Wapakoneta to see the fruits of their (O’Neill and Myers) efforts. An ever growing industrial park, new construction of restaurants and residences all over the city, and one of the most remarkable downtowns in Ohio,” said Bloomfield.

Bloomfield, and his wife Christine, are the parents of three children, Brooklyn, Teddy and Reese.
