2 Sidney men arrested after high-speed pursuit


SIDNEY — Two Sidney men are incarcerated at the Shelby County Jail after leading Sidney Police and deputies from the Shelby County Sheriff”s Office on a high-speed pursuit in a stolen vehicle early Tuesday morning. Occupants of a second stolen vehicle also involved in the pursuit are still at large.

Joshua Kalib Moorman, 18, is charged with failure to comply with order or signal of police officer_lawful order or direction and receiving stolen property. Sidney Municipal Court Judge Gary Carter set Joshua Moorman’s bond at $15,091.

Ryan Anthony Moorman, 19, is charged with obstructing official business. Carter set his bond at $1,567.

According to a Sidney Police, at approximately 1:31 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 16, dispatch advised a report a Red Audi and a dark colored Jeep were driving recklessly and brake checking commercial vehicles on Interstate 75 traveling northbound from the Piqua area.

Sidney Police Officers Joseph Kennedy and Nick Zimmer were on Interstate 75 and observed the vehicles getting off at exit 90 onto Fair Road. Kennedy tried to stop the red Audi and the car sped up to speeds in excess of 100 mph. The driver then took off on foot, leaving the car to coast into a parked vehicle on North West Avenue in the area of Piper Street.

Zimmer went after the dark colored Jeep and it too refused to stop, leading Zimmer on a pursuit in excess of 100 mph. The occupants of the Jeep, Joshua Moorman and Ryan Moorman, also took off on foot but were apprehended by Zimmer and Shelby County Sheriff’s Office’s deputies.

It was learned that both vehicles were stolen from Miami County, the Sidney Police press release said. Both Moormans have been charged in connection with the Jeep, and the investigation on the driver of the red Audi is under way. No one has been apprehended yet in connection with the Audi.
