DAYTON — The Alzheimer’s Association Miami Valley Chapter is hosting several free in-person and virtual education programs in May, touching on ways to keep the body and brain healthy, legal and financial plans to make after a diagnosis and more. Passionate Optimistic Women Encouraging Results, (POWER) is a Shelby County United Way women’s initiative group. The event was held at the Historic Sidney Theatre on Saturday, April 22. Proceeds from the event benefit children and families in Shelby County.

Arch gets sign and lights
Sollmann Electric employee Tyler Geise, of Fort Loramie, moves his lift into position as he adds lights that will illuminate the newly painted and installed Historic Downtown sign on top of the arch located next to The Spot on Court Street. The text of the sign is painted a shiny silver color. Light bulbs will also line the bottom of the arch.
Donate blood May 3 at Senior Center of Sidney-Shelby County

Preparing the soil
Bill Wehrman, of Sidney, performs some deep ripping in a field along Fort Loramie-Swanders Road on Thursday, April 20. The deep ripping breaks up compaction of the soil. Wehrman said corn will be planted sometime in the next couple of weeks depending on the weather.
Pancake Day set for May 3
SIDNEY — The Kiwanis Club of Sidney Ohio will be holding its annual Pancake Day on Wednesday, May 3, 2023. Serving time is from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and will be held at the Sidney First Methodist Church. It is located in the basement of the Fellowship Hall at 230 E. Poplar St. in downtown Sidney. Both on-site dining and carry outs are available.
