ST. MARYS — St. Patrick Catholic Church, 8959 Glynwood Road, (Glynnwood) St. Marys, will host a brief dedication ceremony for its new history marker on Thursday, November 30, 8:30 am, in front of the church. The Auglaize County Historical Society successfully applied for funding to provide a permanent marker honoring the listing of St. Patrick in the National Register of Historic Places. The public is cordially invited to attend.

HOUSTON — Houston Congregational Christian Church is hosting “The Splat Experience” on Sunday evening, Nov. 19, at 6:30 p.m. in the Houston High School Commons Area.

SIDNEY - As the Thanksgiving season approaches, many families and children are giving thanks for all their blessings and sharing those blessings with children in need by packing shoeboxes with Operation Christmas Child.

In August 1995, lightning knocked out the power at a Miami radar center. For the next 84 minutes, air traffic controllers had to remember where airplanes had been on radar in order to help those planes land successfully. This was no easy task at a center that traced nearly 5,000 flights a day!

MARIA STEIN – For a special event, the kids will long remember, parents and grandparents will ned to make reservations for the Maria Stein Shrine’s annual St. Nicholas Celebration. Taking place on Dec. 3 from 1-3 p.m., the afternoon includes a visit from St. Nicholas, activities, prayers, cookies, hot cocoa, and plenty of holiday fun. The event is $10 per child and reservations can be made online at mariasteinshrine.org (the last day to register is Nov. 20). This event is geared toward elementary aged students, all children must be accompanied by an adult.

I have had the opportunity in my lifetime to visit and even live in countries other than the United States of America. Those were all wonderful experiences, the longest being six months. But as wonderful as they were, I was always glad to come home. Personally I wish that more people could experience visiting or living in another country at some point in their life. You have a much better appreciation of the great nation that we live in. I’m not implying that other places are lacking in any particular measure, only that one can appreciate more what’s right under their nose.

COLDWATER — EverHeart Hospice is inviting the public to honor and remember their loved ones this holiday season at their annual A Time of Remembrance gathering. This year’s event will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 12, from 6–8 p.m. in the Luken and Sanderall Meeting Rooms at Mercer Health, located at 800 W. Main St. in Coldwater.

SIDNEY — Northtowne Church of God will honor local veterans and their families with a free breakfast on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2023, from 8-10 a.m.
