COLUMBUS — Kelli Zumberger of Sidney, graduated with a Master of Arts in English from Ohio Dominican University on May 4, 2024. Zumberger is among 154 students who earned their degree following the spring 2024 semester.

Sidney native earns George Mason student excellence award

FAIRFAX, Va. — Leah Pistone, a former homeschool student from Sidney and a current student at George Mason University, was awarded an OSCAR Student Excellence Award for her research on avian brood parasitism earlier this week.

Fairlawn choirs receive superior ratings

The Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA) Large Group Band and Choir adjudicated event featured choirs from around the state. Three different ensembles from Fairlawn High School scored Superior ratings at the District level earning them all spots at State Contest this year. The three high school choral ensembles at Fairlawn are Fairlawn High School Choir, Fairlawn High School Treble Choir and Fairlawn High School Bass Choir. At state contest the High School Choir and Treble Choir both earned overall superior ratings in Class C earning them both the coveted OMEA State plaques. Each choir performed three pieces followed by a sightreading session that was judged. Upon their return to school the students celebrated with pancakes, donuts, and confetti poppers. Fairlawn High School Choirs are under the direction of Sonya Phillips and Shelly Mann.

JTD Hospital Foundation awards 2024 Nursing Scholarships

ST. MARYS — Joint Township District Memorial Hospital’s Nursing Scholarship Fund was established in 1990. This fund provides a $1,000 scholarship to qualified applicants pursing their education in nursing.

SIDNEY — The Historic Sidney Theatre is excited to bring back their full line-up of Summer Theatre Camps for 2024. This year there will be four different camps for students of all ages to participate in. Campers will participate in workshops full of acting, singing, dancing, crafting, and more.
